I purchased this attractive little book prior to spending a few days over the Fourth of July in Boston and found that it contained all the information that I would need for my trip. It looks like a fine introduction to the city for first time visitors. However, this was my third trip to the city over the course of my lifetime, meaning that I have already done the basic tourist attractions, so I focused on the special interest and best neighborhood walking tours (Sections 2 and 3). I walked several of them and I can say that they were well thought out and thoroughly enjoyable. The book gives you the highlights and essential facts and you take it from there. (Based on the information in the book, I even put together my own mini-tour one afternoon of churches that have Tiffany stained glass windows and/or were designed by H. H. Richardson - there's even more to Boston than Trinity Church, awesome as it is). I feel I know this beautiful, historic city so much better now. I'm hoping to get back up there again before the real estate developers "develop" it (the process has already begun) and when I do, I will be sure to have this guide in hand again.

For my wife's 50th birthday, we went to Boston for the weekend. Neither of us has ever been to Boston.

I bought this Frommer's Guide a few weeks before we left and it was invaluable. Based on recommendations and excellent maps I planned out our entire weekend. My wife was impressed. Everything went off without a hitch. We never got lost. The book is small enough to stick in your back pocket and it was with us on the entire trip.

Restaurants, bars, shopping centers, historic sites, the subway, water cruises, pastry shops. We did it all and the Frommer's guide allowed us to see everything we wanted to and then some.

The guide also gave us valuable info on transportation, cost, schedules, times to avoid major crowds and waiting.

You cannot go wrong purchasing Frommer's. I'll purchase Frommer's for any future trips we take.

By the way, Boston is awesome.
I love this little book. Great info and mix of pictures and words. Also ideas on tours and info on cities close to Boston for day trips. Will be taking this one with me on trip.
This compact, lightweight, smartly organized guide really came in handy for a 5 day visit in April. It allowed me to do some planning ahead as well as decision making on the go, to make the most of my trip. The restaurant recommendations were great, and the the maps were easy to read and indispensable. The author's knowledge of the city was always evident and her advice spot-on.
This was really useful. I like how it groups area's together so that you can see it all together when you are in the area.
Very good guide if you are looking for someone to help you plan your days. Use the one, two or three day trip plans when you are limited on time, or if you have extra time when in a city for business! I always look to frommer's for guides when traveling to a new city or country. We also accessed local news to find theater tickets etc.. but this gave us a good starting point for our weekend trip!
Very helpful for a recent visit to Boston. Noticed someone else walking around with the same book. Used in conjunction with a Streetwise Boston laminated map. There's a nice map in the back enclosed in an attached clear envelope which is a nice feature of the book, but I used the Streetwise map which was sturdier and opened accordion style. There is a rapid transit map of boston in the front of the book which is easy to access and I used that constantly. The only thing missing from this book (that I know of) is that there's no mention of the molasses spill in the north end neighborhood in the early 1900s that killed 21 people. A local mentioned it to us and I saw a photo of a plaque on the internet. Would have liked to have seen it in person but did not have time to go back once we found out about it. Oh well! One more reason to go back!
We had 3 days in Boston. This was very helpful. We were able to easily organize what to do with each day and what would be in the area on any given day. This book includes 2 very helpful maps showing attractions, transportation, landmarks, neighborhoods, etc. Small enough to easily fit in a woman's handbag.
We used Frommer's and DK's Boston. Took Frommers with us everywhere we went.
