Welcome to a Strange War! In Donald E. Keyhoe’s imaginings, the stormy skies of World War I are filled with giant pterodactyls, mystic fireballs and demon aces. But America has it’s own unnatural secret weapon Captain Philip Strange. A mental marvel from birth, he was so terrifyingly effective that the Allies referred to him as “The Phantom Ace of G-2.” But to the Germans he was “The Brain-Devil,” whose penetrating green eyes were both a legend and a nightmare. Keyhoe’s Philip Strange stories ran for nine years—from 1931 through 1939—in the pages of Flying Aces magazine. This first volume in our new series contains six exciting tales of terror skies! It also features an introduction by Sid Bradd and is beautifully wrapped up in an exciting new design by Chris Kalb!

Captain Philip Strange Strange War Donald E Keyhoe Books Reviews
During the Great War (World War I to those of you who do not recall it) savage pterodactyls did not menace allied aircraft, red-skulled demon pilots were not employed by the Kaiser, and entire squadrons did not go stark barking mad because of unknown poisons administered by insidious Boche spies. In the world of Captain Philip Strange, however, these are some of the more mundane problems that come to his attention. Known to the enemy as the "Brain Devil of G2," this mental marvel is our greatest weapon in the war to make the world safe for democracy. I knew author Don Keyhoe as an ardent proponent of the extraterrestrial theory of UFOs during the decades after the second world war, with such books as "Flying Saucers from Outer Space" and "The Flying Saucers are Real," so I was quite surprised to find out he was quite a prolific writer for pulp magazines, primarily those associated with aviation. I was even more surprised to find out how well-written and exciting the stories are. Keyhoe's pulp tales are as imaginative and flamboyant as his non-fiction is prosaic. This book is the first volume of Keyhoe's Captain Strange stories, collecting a half-dozen of the 64 tales; a complete listing of all stories, with dates and publications, is contained in an appendix. Each story is rife with adventure, courage, peril and mystery. After reading just a couple of them, you'll not only wish the Great War really had been as depicted here, but that you were there at the controls of your own Spad. This book really has me looking forward to the next book in the series from Age of Aces Books, "Strange Enemies."
Great pulp fiction.
